England v. Portugal
Posted by Gordon Smith

They are about to start the penalty kicks as I write this. What an amazing match! England lost Wayne Rooney to injury early on, but still led most of the match, 1-0. Portugal scored the tying goal in the 83rd minute. Portugal scored again in the second extra-time session, but England retaliated with a goal of its own, forcing penalty kicks. England's goalie is horrible, so it looks bleak for the boys from the island.

UPDATE: Portugal is looking like a team of destiny, and David Beckham is looking like a goat. For the seond time in this tournament, his missed on a free kick (probably) cost England the match. Exciting stuff.

I just wanted to reiterate what I posted a week or two ago after the England-France game. Once again it proves to be true. If he had been taken out as Figo (a likewise falling star) had been earlier, England would have stood a chance. Eriksson just doesn't have the guts to rock the boat to make things happen. England were out-coached, out-run, out-played everywhere, and most of all out-classed in the midfield and that is why they are on there way out once again.

"Once again it flashes before all the world's eyes that David Beckham is NOT a top class footballer!!!! He is a good player. He does have his moments of brilliance. But he is not the best and never has been. One could easily blame England's exits in the last two WCs on him and here he's done it again.

Thank goodness he is on the evil blancos in Madrid and can continue to lead them to the middle of the treble!!!!!!!

Hooray!!!! Now lets go Holland, its their last chance!!!

Glad to see you're following a great sport. Keep up the sports coverage!!!

Professor Smith,
ALthough Portugal does seem to have destiny on its side i doubt it they will win the tournament
They might beat Holland because they are just as like to self destruct themselves and most likely will have to rely on the skill of a young Christiano Ronaldo, Deco, Rui Costa and Nuno GOmez. Holland does have experience on its side but like i said, they have ways to loose the game. Ultimatly the real tean in this Eurocup are the Czechs, behind the awsome playmaking of Pavel Nedved and the scoring abilities of MIlan Barros and Yan Kohler no one stands a chance, that being said i hope the greeks dont pull a trojan horse and somehow surprise everyone by going to the final.
