Simone Schweber of U. of Wisconsin writes in her Chronicle of Higher Education article that she resented Allison Pearson's I Don't Know How She Does It mainly because she wished she had written it. That's how I feel about Prof. Schweber's article today on her balancing act!

Wow! What a great article! That really hit home! The part where she describes how she's still in this sort of 'survival mode' where she thinks things like "Maybe I can still wash myself and the kid off and make it to class" was just so real. I think we've all been there -- so strung out that we start considering really bizarre alternatives, and refusing to let go of the illusion that we can do it all.
I'm just really happy to have found this website, and to find that people are actually discussing these issues honestly. I used to think that I was the only one who struggled, felt resentful, etc.
