Email Lowers IQ?
Posted by Gordon Smith

From CNN:

In 80 clinical trials, Dr. Glenn Wilson, a psychiatrist at King's College London University, monitored the IQ of workers throughout the day.

He found the IQ of those who tried to juggle messages and work fell by 10 points -- the equivalent to missing a whole night's sleep and more than double the 4-point fall seen after smoking marijuana.

I spent four hours in the Detroit airport yesterday, much of it parked in front of a giant television screen showing CNN. I wonder how many IQ points that cost me. Especially "Larry King Live," where Deepak Chopra and other "spiritual leaders" discussed "God and Good v. Evil."

The conversation produced lots of gems, like this from Char Margolis, introduced as a "spiritual intuitive and best-selling author": "Well, first of all, I think it is really important for people to have healthy mental health." I was so wishing that I had access to my email at that point.
