Congratulations to all the Marquette Law students who worked so hard to make last night's mock trial benefitting UNICEF a success! Special thanks go to the judge, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice and faculty colleague Janine Geske, student witnesses Quinn Williams and Jacqueline Lorenz, who were fabulous, and coordinators Matthew Pauley and company. My esteemed colleague Scott Moss did a bang-up job making his slime ball plaintiff look sympathetic.
Did I tell you that I won? Apparently the jury thought that my asking for a Directed Verdict before the plaintiff rested was earnest and endearing. Now that I'm 1-0 for trial victories, I can retire a champion.

I little bird whispered in my ear that the jury was swung by the harmonica.

Personally, I'm appalled that a jury thought it's OK to sell as "a new car" a BMW that had to have a scratch and a dent repainted before it was put on the showroom floor. As my client, a proud plastic surgeon who seeks "perfection," passionately testified: "we're supposed to have a civilization here!"
Rest assured, I plan to seek the assistance of Tom DeLay to redress this egregious disregard of moral standards by an activist mock court. I shall not rest until the hucksters no longer can get away with doing business on the ugly side of the street.

Last night I revealed the staggering $820.00 charity money earned. Jackie called today to advise me that the following bar review earned us another $100+! She then said Blythe had more donations. We may have broke a grand people!
Oh, yeah-- great job to everyone!

I think Dr. Gore should be given a portion of the proceeds to compensate him for the grievous wrong perpetrated upon him. I still can't believe the jury rejected my argument for $10,000 in emotional distress damages.... Have they no heart?
