Swedish Glass Factories
Posted by Gordon Smith
In Swedish the word Glass means ice cream, but the most celebrated "glass" in Sweden is crystal, which is manufactured in various factories in the southern region of Småland. Yesterday, we visited three of these factories (Orrefors, Kosta Boda, and Målerås) and spent more than we should have on crystal dishes, vases, and candle holders.
The photo above shows one of the master glass workers at Orrefors heating a crystal pitcher in the furnace. If you click over to Flickr, you will find some additional photos of the production process.
