Gordon Unplugged
Posted by Gordon Smith

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been relying on a combination of hotel wireless and Philmont wireless to access the internet. On Sunday, we arrived in Salt Lake City, where I will be staying with my in-laws for two weeks. Almost immediately, I discovered that they do not have access to the internet in their home. Let me reiterate: NO INTERNET! I have heard about people living without the internet, but I assumed that most of them lived in North Korea.

The thought of taking a break from the internet -- ignoring my email and taking a hiatus from blogging -- has some superficial appeal. But one day was more than enough for me. So today I am back online at the University of Utah law library, which is about 10 minutes from my in-laws' home.

Gordon, it's called Internet addiction. I know, I've been there. Eric.

Wait. I'm confused... what is this "no internet" of which you speak??

I like to get away from the net every once-in-a-while. However, the daunting task of sorting through my in-box after a break usually prevents me from staying away too long.
