Scariest Miers Item so Far
Posted by Christine Hurt

Apparently, the blogosphere (and the Glom) appear to be "all Miers, all the time," but if even I weren't already convinced that Miers is not the most qualified candidate for SCOTUS, this item from David Frum (National Review) is really, really scary.

Tip:  Randy Barnett.

I think what is most troublesome is that almost all bad news about Miers seems entirely plausible. Not having a record of achievement or paper trail that other candidates have, its hard to tell what information concerning her is and is not credible.

Hi Doug. David Frum is a credible person, and I believe him when he reports on his conversations with people in DC. He wrote that there would be several "surprises" this week, so I am waiting for those to unfold. If he is right, and we start getting negative information about Miers, I think her candidacy could evaporate rather quickly. If she makes it through the hearing without a withdrawal, I suspect she will be confirmed. But that's just a guess.

I suppose its difficult to be vetted properly when you're the one in charge of vetting.
