Looking for a PDA
Posted by Gordon Smith

I am looking to upgrade my PDA. If you were looking, would you consider Blackberry?

I'm not, but I am considering Samsung SCH-i730 and the Palm Treo 650, both of which would work with my Verizon account.

I'm very fond of my Palm Tungsten C.

Gordon, I went through the same decision-making process a few months ago, and did settle on the blackberry. If your main use will be e-mail, I'm convinced that blackberry is the way to go.

I've got a Treo 600, with Verizon, and I've been disappointed by the reception and the keyboard. Go blackberry and try to get yours included in the government's "national security blackberries" category or something. That way it won't get shut off!

My wife says I need to upgrade my PDA, too, but I think she's referring to my public displays of affection.

I like my treo 650 from verizon, but I will be upgrading to the samsung soon. As a developer primarily working with M$ technologies, I am much more comfortable writing code for the the windows mobile based....

I wuv my crackberry. The only catch is, don't get the thin t-mobile one unless you REALLY want the form factor. The keyboard is funky in order to accommodate the small size, and produces a lot of typos, plus t-mobile has had terrible service for me. I can't count the number of times I've sat around cursing at my blackberry for not having service while watching everyone else around chatter gaily on.

But in general, if you're a big e-mail person, go with the blackberry. On the other hand, if scheduling is more important to you, or if you actually try to do writing on the PDA, I'd go with the samsung.
