Enron Predictions
Posted by Christine Hurt

Gordon predicts a full acquittal for both Lay and Skilling.  I predict a full acquittal for one and a conviction on a lesser, second-order crime for the other (probably Skilling).

I tried to leave myself some waffle room -- "I would not be surprised to see both Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling acquitted" -- but I would make the prediction, unless the goverment has some evidence I don't know about.

I believe that Ken Lay will be acquitted. However, I believe that Jeffrey Skilling will be convicted. But, that Skilling's conviction will be overturned on an appeal.

Based on continued research, I believe that both Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling should be fully acquitted. I believe that Mr. Lay was too far removed from the daily operations to know everything that was going on with Andrew Fastow's illegal partnerships. I believe that Mr. Skilling also did not know all the facts. I also believe that Skilling had no insider information when he sold his stock. However, because of the timing of his stock sales, I fear that the Prosecution will pervert facts to try to convict an innocent man. I hope that the jury will be able to see the truth clearly enough to acquit Mr. Skilling.
