Eh, more like an inside/outside story than an engineer/MBA story. Or an even simpler story, the grass is always greener on the other side.

With all due respect, this is a serious question? Popularity among MBAs is a sure sign that an industry has just hit its sell-by date. MBA were keen on Wall Street and real estate in 1987, venture capital and dot coms in 1999 and now hedge funds and per your post, Google.
