We saw it last Friday, and we all enjoyed it. I think I liked Incredibles better, but that may be because I have a very strong rat-phobia! I also came away with the thought that the movie was about immigration. I haven't looked around to see if anyone else thinks this, but I could definitely make the argument.

I attempted to see "Transformers" with my 6 year old. We walked out half an hour into it because it was too violent in too realistic a way. I know, I know, it's PG-13,but he can often handle those (for instance, last night we watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix while Older Son and Mom went to the new movie). Maybe particularized reasons for a rating, such as "non-animated soldier gets skewered by Decepticon" would be good. Anyone know a website like that?

Anthony, I always read reviews on Rotten Tomatoes before I go to the theater, and you can usually pick up on that sort of thing.

Anthony, the best website I have found for this is called Kids In Mind: http://www.kids-in-mind.com/. It breaks down every movie scene by scene that could be objectionable and tells you what happens. (Even scenes that last maybe 2 seconds.) So, you can decide for yourself if your child will be disturbed by a robot throwing a man through the air or a robot skewering a human. I'm like you -- my 5 1/2 year old can take some kinds of movies, but not others.
