Just like it sounds, this site allows you to enter a website to see whether it's down.
And this part you could have guessed: the founder works for Twitter.

The site is constantly down for me. It's even hosted at Google. I came across another one, checksite.us. What's cool about it is that it also lets you check entire URLs and not just top level domains.
Kinda ironic that downforeveryoneorjustme is down haha :X

You may also want to try http://www.uptimekeeper.com
It can also check if your favorite site got infected by a trojan.
