The New Walmart Logo
Posted by Gordon Smith

We have a category called "Wal-Mart," but it appears that we need to revise that to read "Walmart." Walmart is getting a spanking new look for its brand. Behold the new logo:

Hmm. Walmart is like a sunny day ...

Look at the evolution of Walmart's logo, and you can see an echo of the first logo (1962-64).

How appropriate. Their new logo looks like a big puckered anus.

Changing the corporate logo enriches shareholders. Everyone knows that, right?

Umm, ewwww on both counts (the logo and the previous entry)...

Wonder how much money they dumped into developing the change?

are they trying to jump on the Enviro-friendly icon bandwagon, like BP is doing? If so, looks as if they could have made it less sphincter-looking. For all of the money they measle out of labor workers overseas and save by not paying adequate health insurance to US workers, you'd think they could hire a more innovative graphic artist. I'm a starving college student and I have yet to sell my soul to Wal-Mart to buy my toiletries and household goods. I hope no one sees this logo as the mark of a different Wal-Mart; You can remodel, revamp all you want but if the ethics are the same it's still the same asshole on the logo.
