The Today Show is in the house
Posted by Gordon Smith

The Today Show is here today, filming my colleague Michael Goldsmith, who is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Inspired by Michael, Major League Baseball will commemorate Gehrig's famous "luckiest man on the face of the earth" speech by reading his words during the seventh-inning stretch at all Major League ballparks where games are being played on July 4, 2009. Great idea by your colleague. Now, why not push MLB to make at least some annual annual remembrance - ALS and other diseases strike every day and do not wait for convenient periodic anniversaries.

All of us in the ALS Community are incredibly thankful of Michael's leadership to get this done through MLB. There are links to more information from MLB on the program and Michael's efforts via our website at www.als.net/MLB4ALS

Thanks Michael!

That is good news. I read the background story previously and was touched by Professor Goldsmith's efforts and his zeal for living a purposeful life to his fullest ability. Inspirational.
