Just in time for the New Year, word arrives of a very promising new scholarly community; I'll put it on my personal ten best list for this sort of thing. For those headed to the Barcelona conference, I hope to see you there. Here's the announcement:
We are pleased to announce that the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL) has approved the establishment of a new SIEL International Financial and Monetary Law Network. For information on SIEL, see www.sielnet.org.
The SIEL International Financial and Monetary Law Network is being established as a sub-group within SIEL to build a network amongst academics, practitioners and officials interested in the field of international financial and monetary law.
The Network is designed to be an inclusive group open to all SIEL members and to encourage the expansion of the SIEL membership to encompass a wider range of those interested in international financial and monetary law.
Its purpose is to foster a specialized level of engagement and encourage targeted SIEL events on international finance and monetary law. This is the second substantive network formed within the SIEL, joining the recently initiated SIEL International Investment Law Network.
The SIEL International Financial and Monetary Law Network will be officially launched at the second SIEL conference in Barcelona in July 2010. The launch will include an initial organizational meeting, with all those interested in the subject area encouraged to attend to discuss the future direction, role and activities of the network.
Paper and panel proposals for the 2010 SIEL conference relating to international financial and monetary law are also strongly encouraged. For further information on the SIEL 2010 conference and paper / panel proposal details (due by 10 January 2010), see the SIEL website at www.sielnet.org.
For further information on participating in the SIEL International Financial and Monetary Law Network, please contact any of us directly at the email addresses below.
All the best for 2010!
