Entrepreneurial Opportunities Redux
Posted by Gordon Smith
In writing Law and Entrepreneurial Opportunities (with Darian Ibrahim), I immersed myself in the entrepreneurship literature on opportunities. Some of that literature didn't seem to have much relevance to my project -- management scholars and legal scholars are interested in somewhat different questions --but I was fascinated by the debate over whether opportunities are best viewed as objective or subjective. Scott Shane and Peter Klein (among others) have a long-running debate on this issue. Peter offers a nice summary of the debate and makes some new points in a blog post that also links to a new issue of AMR with more reading for the truly dedicated.
