Blogs on the receiving end of an Instapundit link recognize the uptick in traffic immediately. These favorable links have come to be known as Instalanches. Earlier today my colleague Ann Althouse linked to BG's "On Wisconsin" post below, and set off a wave of referrals. Not Instapundit, but still substantial. First Blogads and now Annalanches. She has really come of age in a very short time.

Thanks, Gordon. That was an example of a link in the form most likely to cause readers to click through--in contrast, for example, to the official Bush blog link I kind of complained about the other day, which was in the form that makes the reader feel that they've already gotten the whole message. "Annalanche"--I like that! Unfortunately, yesterday Nina got an annalanche she did not appreciate!
It is the links that has weaned me away from oldfashioned media outlets. An idea is floated or noted and if the facts support the idea, it moves rapidly through the blogsphere. If the facts do not support the idea then it either dies and ugly death and/or it is fisked throughly.
