Blogger Auctions
Posted by Gordon Smith

Jeremy Wright's auction ended on Friday. He sold the following services for $3,350:

This auction allows you to utilize this blogger for 3 months. He will produce between 5-10 posts a week. In addition, the blogger will work with you to see what potential there is for blogging for you and your company - in effect acting as a blogging consultant for you for the period.

That's about 14 weeks ... 70 - 140 posts. Let's say 100 posts just to make it easy. Ignoring the value of Jeremy's services as a consultant, that works out to $33.50 per post. Although Jeremy said he was happy when the price was at $1,600, he admitted in his interview on Blogosphere Radio that the price for his writing services was "lowball." Obviously, the main value of the auction was the publicity that he received.

Darren Barefoot's auction is still running, and the price is way below Jeremy's (currently $685). These are both experienced bloggers, but the auction market for blogging services seems pretty weak. Nevertheless, I think the future for professional blogging services is likely to be strong. Indeed, Jeremy and Darren have decided to form their own consulting company.

But don't look for professional blogging here. Blogging is a labor of love at Conglomerate.

Thanks to Wayne, who has been following this closely on Blog Business World.
