Brush with Politics
I've had discussions before regarding whether meeting certain known individuals is a Brush with Greatness or a Brush with Fame, so I will let you categorize for yourself my meeting Jerry Brown, former governor, current mayor, and three-time presidential primary candidate.
I was introduced to him at the Lexis author dinner at AALS, and I will leave the particulars of that meeting to unrecorded face-to-face conversations, but I will tell you one tidbit. Once I realized who he was, I stuck out my hand and said, "Governor Brown, I want to let you know that I voted for you for President." (This is a true statement.) He looked rather surprised, then quickly asked, "Where? What state?" I replied, "Texas." My colleague, Scott Moss, interjected, "Yeah, that was her." Pretty funny. Snarky, but funny.
