First off, my thanks to the Conglomerate powers-that-be for the invitation to post here for a few weeks. It's not every day you get to blog at a place that lists "Cheese" and "Life in Milwaukee" as preset categories for posts. Second, I hope everyone is enjoying a relaxing Fourth of July celebration today (and for those like me who were born North of the border, a belated Happy Dominion Day!)
To give you an idea of what I'll be posting on, my research deals with information providers in capital markets. In particular, I'm interested in insider trading, securities analysis, and institutional investing. While I primarily examine the capital market effects of these kinds of activities, corporate governance issues are never far away. Being an accounting professor, I'm also interested in the corporate scandals that have roiled the economy (and made it much easier to convince my students that accounting is relevant to their careers!)
If I ever depart into more "eclectic" posting (to use Gordon's term) there is a good chance it will relate to Brigham Young University (my undergraduate home), the University of Michigan (my graduate school home), the blogosphere in general, or Chicago (the city and the university). (Regarding that last point: as a Chicago resident living only a few miles from Calumet City, I'm disappointed the phrase "We're on a mission from God" is missing from the categories list.)
