As I have gotten older, I have noticed myself becoming pickier about all sorts of things, including tumblers. I have long avoided paper and plastic, but even within the universe of glass tumblers, I find myself becoming increasingly selective. Perhaps I am taking my first steps down the road to curmudgeonry, but I have developed a strong preference for the tumbler pictured above, which we purchased last summer at Kosta Boda in Sweden. It is made from lead crystal, so it's heavy. The sides are thick, and the rim is uneven but smooth. The exterior of the glass is textured, and mine is tinted green. I drink mostly water and juice, and somehow it tastes better in my Kosta Boda tumbler.
