Over the past week and a half, bubble teams have been helping themselves with one big win after another, but should we really count beating Tennessee or West Virginia as a "big win"? Seriously, those two have been on the losing end of six of the "big" bubble victories over the past two weeks. At some point, perhaps we should just acknowledge that they are overrated.
Meanwhile, it's looking like my BYU Cougars (winners of 10 of their last 11 games) are going to need to win the Mountain West Conference tournament to feel comfortable about a bid. BYU is never overrated in basketball because they usually aren't very good. This year's team has come together nicely, though I will admit that it's a down year for the MWC.
The big news from yesterday was that the Colonial Athletic Association may get three bids after its top team, George Mason, was ousted by Hofstra. The game got ugly at the end thanks to Tony Skinn's cheap shot on Hofstra's Loren Stokes. Here's the video (the relevant scene is near the end).
UPDATE: Another video, this one of Southern Illinois University cheerleader Kristi Yamaoka, who fell head-first from the top of a human pyramid. As she is wheeled off the floor, she made the arm movements to the school's fight song.
