Capital Markets and Corporate Governance: Pressure to Think Short-Term?
Posted by Christine Hurt

My friend and future colleague Cindy Williams has put together a very interesting conference April 24 and 25 in Chicago, hosted by the University of Illinois College of Law:  Capital Markets and Corporate Governance:  Pressure to Think Short-Term?  This conference features speakers who are academics and institutional investors, both from England and the US.  Prof. Williams has undertaken serious research into the actions the British government andinstitutional investors in London to try to encourage a long-term perspective in investing, as well as trying to incorporate long-term social and environmental risk into the quantitative models that both bond and equity investors use.  This conference seeks to emphasize those developments.
