Enron Verdict: Lay Guilty on All Counts in Jury Trial; Three Counts in Reg U Trial; Skilling Guilty on 18 Counts
Posted by Christine Hurt

The news is out that the Enron jury has found Ken Lay guilty on all six counts and Jeff Skilling guilty on 18 counts in the indictment in the Enron trial.  This news comes as a surprise after journalists assumed that the jury would not come to a decision until after the holiday weekend.  Also, yesterday, the jury asked for the entire trial transcript, which of course would take some time to digest.  (However, no word on whether Judge Lake ever granted that request.)

Judge Lake also declared Lay guilty of three counts of bank fraud after a separate bench trial.  Sentencing for both Lay and Skilling will take place at a later date.

I'm sure that we'll all have more to say as the day progresses, but consider this a breaking news bulletin.
