While my daughter was living at home, we took advantage of the "good student discount" to lower our car insurance premium, but I have just discovered a bigger discount: not having a teenage driver in the house! She was the primary driver on one of our cars, and we never made a claim as a result of her driving. Nevertheless, with her departure, the insurance premium has been sliced in half!

Of course, our joy at this news will be short-lived. Not only have we been forced to sacrifice her good company, but our son now has a driver's permit.
