DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF LAW
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Law.
The University of Illinois College of Law, a top ten public university law school, is one of America's leading law schools - a lively, intellectually engaging, dynamic community from which students go on to assume leadership positions throughout the nation and around the world. The College boasts a diverse community including 36 full-time faculty, 22 visiting and adjunct faculty, 617 full-time J.D. students, and 43 international LL.M. students. The faculty ranks #7 in productivity in terms of downloads from and papers submitted to SSRN and ranks #18 in a recent per capita scholarly impact study. The College of Law has ten interdisciplinary programs in substantive fields of law and the nation's 15th largest Law Library. The Illinois student body ranks in the top 15 nationally, with an annual graduate placement rate near 100%.
Founded in 1867, the University of Illinois is located in Urbana-Champaign at the crossroads between Chicago, St. Louis, and Indianapolis. As the chief academic and administrative officer, the successful candidate will be an innovative administrator with experience and demonstrable success in leadership and managerial roles, and a proven record of academic and professional achievement, commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor. Desirable qualifications include successful teaching, research, and administrative experience, demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to excellence, capacity to carry forth the vision for the College to continue its move into the ranks of the elite law schools, and an ability to communicate effectively with alumni, donors, and campus constituencies.
The position of Dean is a University of Illinois senior administrative position, and the Dean reports to the Provost. This full-time, 12-month appointment has a start date that is negotiable with a preference for July 1, 2008. Salary is commensurate with experience.
