Secular bear market?
Posted by Usha Rodrigues

More from the Department of Word Trivia: today's WSJ referred to a "secular bear market."  No, we don't have godlessness to add to our list of market woes--the article called the term  "Wall Street jargon" for a "prolonged weak period," as opposed to a shorter-term bear market.  Futher investigation reveals the term could come from statistics, or perhaps be the lesser known meaning of secular, "long-lasting."

Wherever the word comes from, it sure doesn't feel good to live through.
