More on Car Buying and Selling
Posted by Gordon Smith

The W$J has a story about dealers selling cars below cost. Mostly old news, if you have been reading The Conglomerate, but the story points to a new site called TrueCar, which is awesome! You can see the report on my new car here.

I have discovered TrueCar too late for help with our recent negotiations, through the report confirms what the dealership manager told me: we paid less than cost for our car. Apparently, this is not at all unusual. From the WSJ story:

According to data from TrueCar, in July 2008 dealers sold about 21% of 2009 model year vehicles for less than what they paid for them. By March this year, they were selling 25% of 2009 vehicles below cost.

This makes me want to go out and buy another car.
