Espionage in the Epitome of Suburbia
Posted by David Zaring

Lower Merion, host of U.S (Golf) Opens, and heart of the Philadelphia Main Line, is the essence of genteel suburbia - viz, some schools give out laptops to all the students.  Which must be nice.

But then, there is the allegation by the ACLU, no crackpot organization in these matters, that one school used the cameras in the laptops it distributed to surveil its students when they were at home.  It's not business, but it's pretty amazing.  Eugene Volokh weighs in here, and because Lower Merion is all about public radio, here and here are two WHYY stories on the case.
